Travaux demolished six buildings (32 public housing units) which provided the footprint for two new mid‐rises (47 units/ midrise, total of 94 tax credit units). The first mid-rise, The Walnut at Westlawn, was completed in December of 2019. It is a 47-unit apartment building with (26) 1 BR units and (21) 2 BR units. Completed in March of 2020, The Oak at Westlawn Gardens is a 47-unit apartment building with (27) 1 BR units and (20) 2 BR units.
The project received a 9% tax credit award to further leverage Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority’s investment in Westlawn and the $30 million Choice Neighborhoods Implementation grant from the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development.
