Westlawn Gardens received 9{b471f9b188726d1f904e400516db322fbed9c04b699af8ee57b0d18ba9447606} tax credit to leverage WHEDA’s investment in Westlawn and the $30 million Choice Neighborhoods Implementation grant that was selected by the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for funding. The Choice Neighborhoods Implementation grant was a joint application for the Rental Assistance Demonstration (RAD), in which all of the remaining 394 public housing units at Westlawn are being converted to RAD. The footprint for Westlawn Gardens, two 47‐unit mid‐rises, requires the demolition of 32 public housing units. The 94 housing units in Westlawn Gardens include 84 RAD units, 15 market‐rate apartments and supportive services will be provided for residents in 19 apartments through memorandum of understandings with Milwaukee County.
